Brett Allen
Senior Pastor
I have been at First Baptist Woodward since June of 2005, and I absolutely love it! I am married to a beautiful woman, have great children and, on top of all of this… pretty little Breeana Jean. Life is good!!
I really do not have one specific Scripture verse that I consider to be a “life verse” but there are many Bible verses that are meaningful to me. I am challenged by Philippians 3:12… “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected, but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.” My desire is to become all that God intended for me to become when He saved my soul.

I came to Woodward on December18th,1983. My calling has always been from an intimate knowledge that God has lead me here and when my days are done, He will be faithful to lead me away from this place of service. In the twenty five years that I have lived in Woodward, I have had a strong conviction that I am to be a shepherd of these people, thus I have not accepted very many opportunities to be gone from my responsibilities for any length of time.
If I were to die or leave this ministry, I would like to be remembered as a man that loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, a person of prayer, a soul winner, a servant, and a person that had an intense love for children.
The best days of First Baptist Church are ahead of us. The community is changing and our challenge is to change with the community. The message that Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father will never change. Methods and programs may change but the command of the Lord to "go ye" must always take us outside of our walls to reach people.
With that said, "come be a part of a fellowship that seeks to transform this community with the message of Christ."

This may sound strange, but I had a drug problem from a very early age...my mother and father always DRUG me to church. I really am thankful to God for being raised in a “Christian home” and a very positive environment. I had a great childhood with so many wonderful memories.
At the end of my senior year of high school I began to drift away from what I knew was right and the way I was raised, but still thinking I was a Christian. At age 23, on the rooftop of my house I prayed that God would take control of my life...and He did. A few years later I realized that on my rooftop was when I actually became a true follower of Christ. Within the next year I surrendered my life to ministry and soon after that I met this beautiful country girl from Ninnekah, Oklahoma named Golda. We got married, and the rest is history.
At the present time our son Denver is the worship leader at a church in Oklahoma City. He is married to Heather and they are expecting their first child and our first grandchild. (And I can’t wait!) Our daughter, Natalie has started her first teaching job with 5th graders in Guthrie, Ok. We could not be more proud of our kids!
I am closing in on 30 years in ministry, and FBC Woodward, where I have served for over 15 years, is my third church to serve full-time. So yes, I’m going to be a grandfather and I am a Youth Pastor...imagine that!
Most of my life and ministry I’ve never really done things the way everyone else has done them, because I have always felt such a freedom in my relationship with God to do things the way He wants me to do them. I am still in love with what I do as a Youth Pastor, and that probably surprises a lot of people, including me at times.
I love to fish and do just about anything outdoors, but I get my greatest kicks from doing things with my family. My passion is my walk with God, and my motivation for ministry is wanting teenagers to experience the incredible love that God has for them individually. I am a huge believer in FUN and there is always some of that sprinkled throughout all we do in the Youth Ministry here FBC.
I hope that you find the website helpful, and if I can do anything to help you, especially with your walk with God or being introduced to him, just shoot me an email and I’ll get back with you a.s.a.p.!
"Music is one way we express our heart felt thanks to God for all the undeserved things he has so graciously given to us. If He did nothing else we could spend eternity praising Him and it wouldn't be enough."
I was raised in a Godly home and saved at the age of 17. Our home was filled with music and laughter and my parents encouraged me to pursue my interests and talents. I didn't think I wanted to go to college when I graduated from high school but soon realized that the retail world was not where I wanted to spend the rest of my life! So, I packed my stuff and headed to NWOSU at Alva where I majored in music and met my wife, Dawn. We moved home to Woodward after graduation and I spent the next 13 years of my life teaching vocal music to teenagers at WHS, my alma mater.
Although I loved teaching, I felt that God was calling me to do something different—serve Him full time. I struggled with this and spent some time as a bi-vocational music minister at Leedey First Baptist and Elm Street Baptist Church. I wasn't ready yet to give up my steady, dependable income and place of security in the public schools. I finally quit teaching and carried mail for a few years for the United States Postal Service. I loved this job too but still felt that God had a different plan for me. I at last surrendered to full-time music ministry at FBC and immediately felt at peace and at home.
Although it was a long road to total surrender to God, I believe He used all of those places I worked to prepare me for this position. I also believed he used me to minister to others at school and at the Post Office.
God has been so good to me! He's given a loving marriage, two beautiful daughters, a wonderful extended family and some fantastic friends. I've been blessed and it is my desire to serve Him with all my heart.
I have been a member of FBC for more than 40 years, and I have worked in the church office since May of 1993. Before I joined the office staff here, I worked at the Woodward Hospital as a Medical Transcriptionist. I have a degree in Home Economics and a degree in Elementary Education from Oklahoma Baptist University. I taught in a Montessori Preschool before I stayed home with my girls.
Larry and I have been married for 30 years and have two daughters, Hilary and Sydnie. Hilary and her husband, Brent Hubbard live in Woodward with their two children, Hollace and Rhett. Sydnie got married this past November to Jeremy Davidson and they live in Edmond. Larry runs the sound for Worship Service and serves as a deacon. He works at the Woodward Library after retiring from the Okla. Employment Service.
I teach an Adult 7 Ladies Class, sing in the Adult Choir and direct the hand bell choir.
I am the receptionist and secretary for Mike and for Les. I love my job! I feel like I am right where God wants me to be and consider it a great privilege to serve my church this way. My favorite things are probably greeting the people who come in the office and I love doing “creative” things on the computer.
